I would call the vet who has treated her and ask about your concern---And after 2 days is a time for concern. Be sure they remember the reason you first took her there.
You could try feeding her some pure (not pie filling) unadulterated pumpkin with an equal amount of plain (not vanilla, etc flavored--contains sugar)yogurt to try to get her to go. You may not be able to find the canned pumpkin as there was a shortage last year--weather conditions or crop failure, etc. In my stores there is a note where the pumpkin is suppose to be shelved stating the above and won't have any till Oct! But I heard that winter squash (hard kind, not the softer summer squashes) may work as well. Actually pumpkin is a type of winter squash. BUT I would still definitely call your vet as it has already been 3+ days!!!
On the other problems with German Shepherds and digestion ---I see you have read the info I gave in this forum. And by the way --You should be giving your dog probiotic pills/capsules right now just because of the antibiotics she is on.----This breed especially needs them!! Antibiotics kill the good healthy necessary bacteria as well as the bad! The good needs to be replaced to keep your dog in good health--keep immune system strong!!!
I suggest you put these words in your browser and try and get more info:
dogs/constipation
dogs/pancreatitis
dogs/exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (ESPECIALLY THIS ONE!)
You might try this too--German Shepherds/nutritional problems
and this: German Shepherds/immune system
--German Shepherds/probiotics
Please check these out as German Shepherds can have a lot of serious problems especially to do with not getting the nutrients they need. I hope you find a lot of good info --I have not checked them out.
When you talk to your vet I would also ask about getting more and different food in the diet--I am thinking 3 days is enough on that chicken and rice diet, especially since the diarrhea has stopped.--No wonder the dog is not pooping--prob. not enough food to get her to go!
Your dog, having the nutrition problems it does, would prob. do best on a raw food diet. There is some studying on this necessary before attempting it though--a lot actually if you want to do it right! Might check about this on the net too. In browser words like: dogs/raw feeding----

Although I would rather see a raw food diet--this link has some good info. And I do do some home cooking at times but prefer the raw as cooking destroys most of the nutrients because of the heat:
http://www.sheeper.com/a304361-what-...n-shepherd.cfm I have a cocker spaniel that doesn't have the problem German Shepherds with getting proper nutrition so I feel your breed needs all the help it can get!
Here is a goog link I just found that might be interesting to you!--> Pancreatic Insufficiency

my dog just recently had a vet visit because of vomitting and diarrhea. His was due to too many treats because we got a new puppy and we were training with treats and he got an upset tummy.
Anyways, the vet gave us some medicine to help "firm his stool" and it is a very common medicine given to dogs with diarrhea. The vet specifically told me that he may not poo for up to three days on that med.
So it is just possible that he is finally building up a normal amount of solid, firm poo and will eventually go in a day or so.
The medicine is called Metronidoxole and if you are giving that to your dog then I wouldn't start worrying for another day or so.
There is also a Kaopectate type liquid that they give to dogs with diarrhea that will have a similar effect.
basically anything that is meant to firm the stools will likely cause your dog to be a little constipated for a few days. Just watch him closely and if he becomes listless or starts trying to poo and nothing comes out, then get worried.
I would also like to note
Please do not give your dog canned pumpkin or squash without talking to your vet first!! There was a reason your vet likely gave him stool firming meds. Giving him pumpkin will probably just bring the diarrhea back!!

Though Metronidoxole is a common medicine for alleviating diarrhea, pumpkin (non pie mix but pure) does not cause diarrhea but in fact is generally used to solidify and eliminate diarrhea. It is also used to help with parasites in the colon and intestines that may be causing diarrhea. Though a home remedy, it is in fact a very good one. But it does not cause diarrhea. It does moisten the stool but not to the extent of creating a runny stool or diarrhea. I have used this for years and have had no problems. But as this dog has already been treated by a vet and has been given medication which appears to have worked, waiting another day would be advisable before contacting the vet with regards to this problem.

Oops.. i got the pumpkin and pineapple confused.. you're right.. pumpkin sfirms the stool, pineapple gives them diarrhea.
Either way you shouldn't be messing with that area IF the dog is already on meds.. Adding an additional stool firming agent can really impact the dog. That was the point I was trying to make
Don't do ANY home remedies at all after seeing a vet if your dog is on meds. you can make the issue worse.
You also should NEVER do a home remedy when there is blood in the stool like the OP described. Its a bad idea and you did the right thing with going to the vet.
Home remedies like pumpkin is only good if you are sure it's just an upset tummy from too many treats, getting into the cat food, or nerves.
You did the right thing.. but yes, stay away from pumpkin and wait it out another day or so.

Just want to comment on the use of pumpkin--It will help regulate the bowels whether for diarrhea or constipation.--Works for both. Adding the yogurt also helps. But I agree that it is not good to use if the problem is not a simple one (at least without the vet's approval) as it would cover up the initial problem and not solve the underlying problem!
