Getting Desperate, Helpless--My Dog Isn't Eating/Strange Behavior
Hi, I'm new and I came across this site while looking for help and so I figured why not ask people?
My dog, whom is a black lab, shepherd and Great Dane mixed, stopped eating. At first, it was because we thought he was sick, so we took him to the vet and the vet couldn't find anything and then we learned, a few days later, that we have investigators on our tail for god knows what reason and thought they had drugged him because a few weeks later, he had perked up.
I coaxed him into eating a week ago and he had started to eat normally again for about a day and now, he won't eat at all. I try putting his food in a separate dish because I figured he won't eat out of the same dish our pug eats from (the pug is a little under six months...iirc) and he refuses. He used to eat out of my hand before I got him to eat out of the dog dish.
I dunno--I can feel his back bone and ribs clearly and I don't want him to die. The vet can't find anything wrong with him--I mean, he's playing and running around when his arthritis isn't bad (it hardly is--it only kicks in if he rough houses or if it's gonna storm). I bugged my parents to buy different dog food for him and my mom told me no, that we apparently changed our dog food not that long ago. (Like how, not that long ago is ten years since my cats got a vet check up :/ but if the dogs are limping, it's right to the vet.../cat person rant)
He can't by dying--I just know he can't be dying, he's not allowed to die yet...it's a feeling that I have...
Amongst this not eating, he's been crying and following us around a lot and then running to our garage and barking. Heck, he hates my room because it gets to hot (I hate the cold) and he follows me in there and won't leave me alone and makes sure he's always around me. Or my family.
And my parents aren't trying anything--they keep saying that he'll snap out of it eventually.
Any...solutions/suggestions/ideas?
