Default Wet Hind Legs (long one)

When I first took Kuma to the vet the Dr. mentioned Kuma looking wet by her inner hind legs. She wasn't wet to the touch but because of her fur you could tell that she had been wet at some point and didn't dry right, if that makes any sense. (I can post a pic if it'll help). The vet said something about Siberian Huskies usually being the ones with this problem and not to worry because she is still young. She said I should wipe her down once in awhile and told me to simply keep an eye on her private area & call if there was any pus or changes. Well, like a dumb butt I thought "Oh, she'll be fine she's just clumsy!" I had noticed the wet look before but figured she was just a super furry, super clumsy puppy that was getting herself a little messy when she was finishing up peeing.

Well, having it pointed out & continually seeing the wet look on her (yet no wet touch). I have started investigating this weekend and I came up with 'Ectopic Ureter' which may slightly ring a bell? From what I'm understanding, this means she is leaking urine unintentionally. But Kuma never leaves a wet spot that I have ever noticed nor can I find her presently wet when I check. At the same time it can be all that fur soaking it up quickly.

Than I read something else about possibly losing bladder control when sleeping. I'm going to shampoo her & try drying her completely off with a blow dryer (have only towel dried her because she's scared of the dryer & I'm scared of traumatizing her). But I would like to TRY and figure out WHEN she is getting wet because right now I have no clues to go on.

Which brings me here to you guys.. Has anyone here ever had experience with this? Ectopic Ureter? Can she be a super furry, super clumsy puppy? Or is there something all together that I'm missing?

Either way I'll keep updates in case anyone has similar problems in the future.

I know nothing about this but I just want to warn you of the 'killer of dogs--PROIN (for incontinence). Please never let your vet prescribe this! Here is a very long thread in this forum on people's experience with this drug and what happened to their dogs. And this can happen with just one pill!!! :Is your dog on PROIN? READ THIS!This is a very long thread but reading it and being aware of this CRAP/KILLER may save your dog's life!

By the way--Being as you are a Taurus too---What day is your birthday? Mine is April 27th.

Thank you!! I seen that thread last night. I started on the first page & got to about page 9, I wanted to finish it today.

I'd never heard of Proin but since the thread had a new post I clicked on it out of curiosity & glad I did!! I could very well be prescribed Proin for Kuma if it turns out to be incontinence. Needless to say I will NOT be going that route if the vet ever suggests it. It's simply not worth the risk of losing her.

You're close to my Hubby's, April 24th. I'm a May baby, the 12th. When I was younger I tinkered with Astrological Birth Charts. I have to say it was tons of fun for me. And reading a persons entire chart can be eerily on target!

I feel the need to mention (in case you don't know) that Proin is the brand name for phenylpropanolamine (PPA for short) so the vet could prescribe it as PPA (the long word above) and you might not know it is Proin!

I agree with you!

Hey, me too! I use to do charts (amateur of course) years ago. I had an ephemeris (misspelled?) that gave all the degrees of the planets, etc--costly book and when it got outdated for the years, I kind of quit plus I had read that the 'statistics'---hrs/days may not be right as our present time is not accurate and may be off by about 5 to 6 days since eons ago! Can't remember for sure how many days off--maybe not that many. And I just realized (never thought about it) that the internet has ephemerises! But it has been too long and I forgot a lot. Although I have many books on astrology. I did check the net out and figured a chart placement for my dog, Corky, that I had to put to sleep this past June 10th--Got the statistics but just haven't felt up to figuring it out yet.

My dad's birthday was April 29 and my brother's is May 4th. Had another brother (killed in a fall from a silo when he was 7 yrs. old)--his birthday was May 8th.

I appreciate you looking out for me, or Kuma more importantly! If her vet ever mentions a prescription for her I plan to hound her to make sure it's not some form of Proin. I'm also going to cross my fingers & hope whatever it is that's going on isn't serious and can hopefully correct itself as she grows.

I'm so sorry you lost one of your brothers so young. I can't imagine how hard that must have been. And losing Corky too. I'm sure it will be a nice little touch point to read his chart later when you're ready.

I can't believe you were in to natal charts too. You probably did better than I did. lol Most of mine were through one author, his name eludes me. I have his books in a box in the garage of course. Yup, there's no better place to keep a fantasty mini library. LOL Anyhow, I never went much further since, as you obviously know, it can get pretty complicated. :?
So if I say to you, "Dear Corky/Max, what my dear is your Sun sign?" You would actually understand me and not think I'm totally crazy.

Kuma had her vet appointment the other day. It turns out it is only juvenile vaginitis which explains why I haven't noticed much aside from the wet look. It must be mild as I haven't seen any discharge myself. Still wiping her down & starting her on a 10 day supply of antibiotic.
