blue buffalo vs taste of the wild
I had my Pom on taste of the wild for around 6 weeks was doing pretty good on it, decided to switch to blue buffalo small breed formula, was wondering what the difference is the food is, he only eats small amounts of each, blue is almost twice as expensive. and another question, always heard that feeding a small pom too higher protien will damage kidneys, is that true?

Was there some particular reason that you decided to switch foods?

The only real reason i switched is because he wasn't eating much. I thought maybe he just didn't like the taste since it was mostly fish, blue is mostly chicken. been feeding him blue the last few days and don't see a difference in the amount he eats. feed him the recomended amount of both 3/4 to 1/2 cup per day and he eats about half per day. it must be helping in some way he looks better, he seems more energetic, he's never been sick like he was on the store brand. guess my concern is he's not eating enough, i feel, anyway.

Also wanted to say, I was feeding him taste of the Wild pacific stream, which is smoked salmon flavor, was recomended by the guy at the pet store. was there two different times. each associate told me two differnt things, one tells me too much protien will harm the dogs kidneys since he is only 5 lbs, the other one tells me that protien percentage doesn't matter unless he already has kidney problems. he's been too a vet recently, good bill of health. the only problem he's been having is coat is thin, dry looking. but since i've been feeding him a premium dogfood, looks MUCH better. hair is growing back in the thinner spots. maybe i just worry too much about it. but was wondering what other thoughts were.

Well, he's a tiny dog so, I wouldn't expect him to eat very much. As for the protien issue, I don't know the answer. Hopefully, someone will see this post who can answer your question. I do know that Blue Buffalo is considered to be a top notch food.

He is a tiny dog so does make sense that he's not eating alot. Guess as long as he's doing well, looking good and not ill, maybe i shouldn't worry too much. just love him and want the best for him. thank you.
