Vet?!
Hi,
my pug has some black crust around her nipples that isn't giving her any discomfort. I didn't think much of it because she had been treated for mastitis after she had puppies. I believed the "scabby" skin was left over from the infection she had recovered from and I didn't have to worry about it unless it bothered her but someone I've communicated with said they took their pug to the vet for a similar condition and it was diagnosed as a bacterial infection that came up in a "fecal smear". Their pug was a male, so it made decide to should take my dog into the vet just to make sure things are okay.
I am taking her to the vet, but I just wanted to know what to ask the vet and what to look out for to make sure the vet has my dog's best interest in mind. I've heard from some people that there are some animal doctors that will take advantage of the dog owner and run a lot of unnecessary tests and use scare tactics to run a higher bill. I am willing to spend the money to get her the help she needs, but I don't want to get taken advantage of.
Also, what do I look for in choosing a quality and affordable vet?
