My dog is a 5 year old Chihuahua and lately all he does is lay around. He goes outside when he has to use the bathroom but comes right back in and goes to sleep,he isnt gaining weight and seems healthy but im still a little worried is this normal of dogs his age?

i would say this is not normal and i would personally take the dog to the vet to get blood work done.. Make sure they check ur dogs thyroid. Anytime ur dogs behavior changes drastically u want to first rule out any medical conditions and go from there. good luck!

I don't know the usual life span of a chihuahua but I also have a lazy dog. But he's also a little on the chubby side. We got another dog that would likes to lick him. That got him up : ) maybe he needs a friend or something. Get him a entertaining toy. My lazy dog started when he was around 7 now he's 10. He's a black lab. My other dog would chase him around a wanted to play with him. Take you chihuahua to the vet to see if something's wrong with him. That's the extent of my knowledge! I know a friend that loves chihuahua's I'll reply tomorrow and ask her.
