Default Help!

Hello, my dog acting weird, he is very mopey and is sleeping alot today, he feels extremely warm like he has a fever and is limping to an extent but not always. I first noticed this after I got home from class around 3:30ish. He wouldnt come running to get his food when I called the dogs. He was walking around but seemed very droopy. Now, he is laying down, he moves from mat to mat every few hours. He has done this before a few times, one time in particular he just fell off the couch and hurt his paw (which was actually my initial thought). Anyone have any knowledge on this stuff? Any help would be appreciated. =)

He is acting like he is in pain. He needs to see a vet.

I agree, he needs to see a vet! There are many things this could be. I gather from what you said that he has acted this way before he hurt his foot?! If so, there is more to this than just hurting his foot. And if he has a fever--What would hurting his foot when he fell off the sofa have to do with it? Have you checked out his paw---esp. the underside---My dog gets into burs and the weed-foxtail can be dangerous and can work it's way into the system. There also could be something wrong with the brain, or the spine---many possibilities--You just don't know, which is why you need to see a vet. Make sure you tell him all the symptoms and situations. Be a detective and think back to earlier 'episodes'--No matter how subtle--Write things down. But do check out his paws now. And get to the vet, please. Try to stay away from the pain med--Rimadyl if you get prescribed anything. Best to research (yourself) any meds prescribed. If your vet is a good vet--He will not prescribe too many things until blood work has been done to make sure the kidneys and liver are in good condition to handle meds. Check out this thread on Rimadyl: Please Do not Give Rimadyl (carprofen)--CAN KILL

Please keep us informed as to how your dog is as we worry if we never hear back. Hope things are not too serious and your puppy feels better soon.

Be aware---Labs actually are the breed that are prone to have the most problems with Rimadyl!! (Prob. other meds too) See this site on what it says about it---Have to read it all to catch it! There are 2 links mentioned here---The 1st link has the Labrador info. The 2nd link is a good read also. Dogs in Pain/Meds

It does sound like he is in pain. I would get him to a vet ASAP. I hope all is well and it turns out okay. Keep us informed of how he is doing
