Default limp leg 4 yrs after FHO

My 12 lb dog had an FHO 4 years ago to correct a hip problem at birth (she's almost 5). She went outside 5 days ago and came in carrying the same leg. It was totally limp. And yet, sometimes she uses it normally. 2 vets have looked at her and no one knows what is wrong. She doesn't seem to be in any pain. I'm to give her anti-inflammatory for 2 weeks and then they will x-ray but they have no idea at this point and don't think they really expect to find anything by x-ray. If anyone has any idea what could be happening, I would appreciate any help. I almost acts like it's slipping in and out of the artificial joint but the vets tell me that can't happen. It's the best way I can describe it.

Sorry - what is "FHO"?

Her symptoms sound similar to luxating patella but I guess that would be one of the first things the vet would rule out. I hope they find what is causing it.

My sisters Chihuahua has luxating patella and it got so bad u could literally move her knee out of place. It was pretty gross. She would lay down on the floor a lot to pop it back into place. Luckily my sister has been able to reduce the problem through a diet change, and exercise. My sisters dog has lost a 1lb and goes on 2 walks a day. Not only does she look healthier, my sister hasnt seen her pop her knee back into place in months and the vet was absolutely amazed.

FHO is similar procedure as needed for Leggs perthes.
