Default Dog Allergies? Purebred or Mix?

Does your dog have allergies? If so, are they purebred or a mix? I'm starting to hear that an increasing number of mixed breed pups are also being diagnosed with allergies.

I'm curious to know if others are finding this to be true.

Thanks!
Kathy

P.S. My dog Elsie has pretty bad allergies. She's a purebred boxer and I've learned it's not uncommon for boxers or purebred dogs to have allergies.

Default I'm dealing with allergies too !

My 13 yr old cairn terrier has terrible skin allergies. He has had them since he was a puppy and it has been a continuous fight. We've tired every kind of food, medicated baths, drug therapy..but to no avail. We just treat the symptoms & try to keep him under control . . .

16 APBT all pure bred almost all have papers except the ones that were puppy's from my other dogs no point in getting there papers since i know there pure bred and i'm not selling them .Note i dont condone people breeding and selling these breed if they don't have the knowledge that goes with responsibly breeding them . Mine are used for hog hunting lots of money in them And breed them with a male and female from an entirely different parents no inbreeding took place was a supervised mating

several have seasonal allergies from the trees and plants .
one of them has hip dysplasia

My oldest one has cataracts

How ever this breed generally a healthy breed
would say they hip problems more then likely do to there life style of all ways running and there size . how ever i really don't no why they have hip problems but this is my educated guess

I have a Border Terrier pup, and as far as I know, she has no allergies. Her mum had a skin allergy, and I think this is quite common amongst Border Terriers, but other than that, no known other allergies.

We have a chocolate Lab that has suffered from skin allergies since he was a puppy and it seems to be worse when he is around weeds down by the river. Because he likes to go fishing with us (and then he runs through ever weed he can find), the vet recommended that we treat him like someone who has hay fever. He told us that if think we know what is triggering the allergies, then take a preventative stance. So, now we give him some of his medicine before we go or let him run through the weeds and it helps relief the symptoms.

I always feel so bad for him when he gets itchy.
