Blood in vomit and in stool with hives??
Help my pup well almost 2 has not been feeling to great very sensitive and irritable. She has vomited a bunch of times and the last little bit has had blood in it she also has had 3 loose stools and blood also is in it? She has swelling lumps on her nose I gave her a benedryl and the swelling went away(this was around 5:00pm before she ate then right after she ate she vomited up her food no blood) she has vomited since then and every time has had blood, now the swelling in between her eyes has popped up? should I give her another benedryl? I financially am not in a position to take her to the vet which I feel sick about! Please has anyone had this happen before my girl is a mix breed I am not to sure what but alot of people have said she looks Rhodesian Ridge Back cross Mastiff she is spayed and I have recently switched her from Evo red meat to California natural lamb grain free as she was very stinky the switch over was done very slowly and proper and she is less stinky and does not itch as much but she is still getting every now and then swelling bumps like hives?

Even if you cannot afford to take your dog to the vet, your dog needs to see a vet. It was not the best move to give your dog meds w/o a vets ok. That could make a problem worse. Call around and find a vet that will accept payments and get your dog in to be seen.

Hope you take your pup to the vet! I am wondering if there is something in the dog food she is allergic to!? Even though grain free and lamb are what this new dog food is mainly made up of and most dogs have no problem with those ingredients--There are other ingredients in there that she may be allergic to or she may have an allergy to lamb. I imagine there are different ingredients in this new dog food like veggies/fruit, etc to make up for not having grains as they are surely not going to just have meat--too expensive! Did she get hives before switching dog foods?--Or was it after the new dog food was given? And maybe she ate something else besides the dog food that she shouldn't have! Think back to when this started and whether you fed her something that could of caused this or she got a hold of something she shouldn't have. Here is a link to things your dog should not eat--Long but well worth the time to read!!: Foods that are hazardous to a dog
I am bothered by you saying that she was stinky--This could be an indication of a health problem also. You really should take her to the vet to be checked out! In meantime maybe you could try another brand of dog food to see if that helps the hives/allergy. And big warning here: Make sure she is drinking a lot of water--All that vomiting and loose stools could cause dehydration which could kill her if it got bad enough. She prob. needs vitamin B50 as B vitamins get flushed out with all that vomiting and pooping.
A few other questions --Did she recently have any shots (within a 2-6 month period of when this problem started)? How about any medications? Has she eaten anything that was fatty---Could have a bowel problem that would need to be checked out--Don't want her getting Pancreatitis--dangerous if not taken care of. Could also get colitis. Hey! Check out the web on these 2 things--Put dogs pancreatitis and after that--dogs colitis in your browser.
Please keep us posted as we will be worrying about your dog! Hope she is feeling better soon but I doubt it is going to go away until you find out what is causing it and get it treated or eliminated if an allergy. Maybe you should check out on the net about Benedryl The dosage and whether to give too often. It may help with the swelling/hives but it prob. isn't going to help the other symptoms!
One other question--Could she of gotten in to something outside when you weren't looking especially!?

Thank you for the responses I really appreciate your feedback. Today she is still the same less vomiting but she is still pooping frequently small amounts of bloody liquid I have not fed her today just lots of fresh water which she is drinking her nose is wet so dehydration is not my worry at this time. A little history about Dascha my girl, she was a out playing with my other dog Diesel (7 years old) and I was leaving so I called them in and I put them in their room got some stuff and as I was leaving out the door I looked at Dascha and noticed her face was swelling? I did not leave I brought her into the kitchen and called my husband to come see her within 1/2 hour she had swelling spots all over but not in the middle of her body just her head/face, front legs, rear legs and upper back thighs on the inside so we immediately called the vet and took her in the vet said she looks like she has had an allergic reaction to something they gave her an injection and sent me home with pills. I got home and checked the back yard for anything she may have gotten into but nothing except a nest of yellow jackets in a post that holds up out grapes I sprayed them and burned their nest. so we all assumed that was the cause. never before this did she ever have swelling(this happened first week of July 2010) since then she has had one other time where her face swelled and her hind legs we were 2 hours from home visiting family got in the vehicle drove home and when I let her out and into the back yard with our other dog I unloaded our vehicle about 15/20 minutes go by we bring the kids(dogs) into the house and her swelling was there I called my mother in-law to see if they had given her anything I was unaware of but nothing we checked the back of the vehicle and nothing so we gave her what the vet said to do if this was to happen again Benedryl it went away. Now this time it started Sunday she had the swelling a bit so we gave her 1 benedryl and then she had diner about a half hour later,
"CALIFORNIA NATURAL GRAIN FREE LAMB MEAL FORMULA"
ingredients:Lamb meal, peas, potatoes, sunflower oil (naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols) pea fibber, natural flavours, potassium chloride, salt, taurine, minerals(zinc proteinate, Iron proteinate, copper proteinate, manganese proteinate, calcium iodate), vitamins(vitamin E supplement, betaine hydrochloride, niacin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, calcium pantothenate, vitamin A supplement, vitamin D3 supplement, biotin, riboflavin supplement, beta carotene, Vitamin B12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, Folic acid.
I am very strict with what goes in my dogs I feed them bananas the odd time I give them some salad , cucumbers celery cabbage carrots but never packaged human food or left overs only the odd veggies and fruit, although I can't be watching them 24/7 and when we go for hikes but I do feel this is not a food problem she does eat my other dogs poop which we have been trying to stop and she eats sticks and pretty much anything she feels is yummy to her that is why we try to watch what goes in. I thought maybe parvo virus but??
SHOTS
no recent shots she had all her puppy shots and parvo virus shots but has not had any since as I was debating on if she really needed them? some say yes some say no?
The plan for Dascha is that if she has not improved by tomorrow my husband is going to call our vet and see if he will see her as he knows us and we have a summer business only so our winters we get by and the vet knows this so hopefully he will help us out with payment in summer??

Blood in vomit and in stool with hives
I just got off the phone with our vet and I told him everything and he suggested to give her benedryl 2x a day for 2 days, petobismo 15 ml 2x day for 2 days and Caopectate 5 ml 3x a day for 2 days and if she doesn't improve after 2 days I can bring her in. So that is what I am going to do for now. Thanks again

You mentioned having grapes in your back yard----I hope your dog is not helping herself to them!! This is a killer ---It causes the kidneys to fail and many dogs die even with trying to treat this problem. This is listed in that thread I gave on Foods That Are Hazardous to Your Dog. How long ago did you spray the yellow jackets---The spray is prob. another thing your dog should not get in to.
You mentioned about her eating the other dog's poo. One of the reasons that dogs may do this is that they are lacking something in their diet or are not digesting their food right. One thing that I have read is that vitamin B50 may be needed. Your vet will prob. not tell you this as they do not have much schooling on supplements/vitamins, etc. My vet told me that they only have a day or 2 on that subject in vet school. She did not even know what Coenzyme Q-10 was. If you want to read about dogs and B vitamins--Put those words in your browser. You might check out dogs/eating poo(p) too .
I know it cost money (about $60-$100-at my vet's and depending how extensive you go) but I hope you get blood work done-esp kidney and liver readings. There may be allergies here but in the back of my mind I am wondering how healthy the kidneys and liver are ---This is your dog's 'defense' ---immune system and it appears there could be problems with all the problems she seems to have.
