Default doggy overdrinking water

This might sound silly, but my dog has suddenly tripled the amount of water she is drinking. We took her to the ocean like 3 days ago, and we figured at first that she was thirsty from swallowing some salt water.

But she's still demanding water all the time. We switched her water dish with a big pot now, and she's just drinking it up. And she pees it out too though, so she's not storing it. I have to let her out like 20 times a day (and now a bunch throughout the night).

Anyone think that this is a problem a vet should check out or just a silly thing that my dog's addicted to water suddenly. If we take the water dish, she cries for it, so she's thirsty for sure. Her nose isn't dry and her stools are solid. She's eating normally... just drinking so much.

Thanks,
Erin

Somtimes excessive drinking can be a sign of Kidney disease, so I'd pop her along to see the Vet if I was you, is her pee very pale? has she got smelly fishy/amonia type breath?
If not then she could have picked up an infection from drinking the sea water which could be effecting her kidneys or bladder, the vet might give her a course of antibiotics. Let us know how she gets on please, & give her huggles from me and my lot

Thanks for the reply.

She seemed to be cutting back during the day yesterday, but through the evening and ALL NIGHT, she wanted to drink and to go out.

So I have a vet appointment for 11:15 this morning. I'll post here when I get back and let you know what the outcome is. I'm hoping just an infection of sorts that anti-biotics can fix... not anything serious. She's a beagle/russel mix... looks like a short boxer who is... hard for me to believe... 9 years old already!

She's my old lady.

Default excessive drinking and bloody urine

My dog is having these very symtoms, but others also. I took her to the vet 2 days ago and she does not have a bladder infection or stones. The vet did however, find a mass by or in her left kidney thru xray and ultrasound. What's so perplexing is that she will urinate clear and then have bloody urine occasionally. The vet put her on an antibiotic for 2 weeks and we're keeping our fingers crossed. She's eating the same. No loose stools and acting normal other than the excessive drinking and bloody urine. Anyone have the same problem and know what it is or what to do? The vet just says "I don't know", which is so very frustrating after spending hundreds of dollars!

Nellie is 9 1/2 and the love of my life so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

When my old cat was dying of Kidney failure (she was old) her urine was very milky (I think that is because the kidneys are draining pus).

Once a guinea pig owner called me and asked if there was something wrong with her guinea pig because the urine was white and cloudy. I never thought about it but some animals like guinea pigs have cloudy urine normally. It isn't normal for cats and dogs (or people) to have cloudy urine.
