Default Dog eating my food.

Everytime I sit down to eat my food, my 3 month old Bichon Frise puppy jumps up on my leg, stares at my food and whines, recently I have been giving into him and feeding him the odd piece of a bacon butty, sausages, pizza etc etc... my question is, is this right? Is it harmful to the dog? Will it upset his stomach? Give him diahrea? Or any other implication... thanks for any advice.

John.

The foods you're giving him are ok in tiny amounts, but thats not the problem. The problem is that once you start feeding a dog off your plate, he will always expect it. Jumping up and trying to get to your meals in NOT acceptable behaviour, and it must be curbed. Feeding him human foods regularly will make him fussy and stop him wanting his own food. I would eat in an area he has no access to, or crate him when you are eating.

I agree that feeding him from the dinner table or from your food is not helping you out any.

You could try home-cooking meals for him so that he won't want your food.

My dogs recieve lots of different kinds of food. I see no reason to throw away leftovers if you have a dog. But my dog never eats when I am eating. If I have food left I wait at least thirty minutes and then will put the food in the dog bowl. Or I also find it fun to use left over bacon and suh for training purpuses. My dogs work for pretty much everthing. I t has taught them very good manners. Hope this helps.
