Delilah's mom is on a distinguished road
Default My 7 month old puppy is sick. Looking for answers.

I have a female Black Mouth Cur that is 7 months old and she became very ill last Monday night with high fever, elevated white count and pain. I took her to the Vet first thing Tuesday and she stayed all day long and was treated with antibiotics. She was sent home and went down hill during the night and was unable to take food or water and was in a horrible amount of pain. I stayed up with her all night long trying to give her ice chips and she couldn't even lift her head. I took her back to the vet and she had a 105 temperature and her condition did not change during the day. She was kept over night on IVs and given another high powered antibiotic. She had xrays blood work and only the fever, high white count and pain were any clinical indications of her illness. By Wednesday morning she was able to stand and take water and food by mouth and was sent home. She is in alot of pain and is very stoic. Basically she looks like a 90 year old woman walking around my house. She is unable to get on or off the couch without assistance and wants to stay in our dark hallway and is very standoff-ish. She is drinking and eating and that is good. I find it puzzeling that she goes outside and refuses to come inside or when inside she stays in our dark hallway.
She has had all of her shots and was Spayed back in March. She did have a bought of diarreha a few weeks ago and was found to have hookworms that have been treated.
I do not want to lose my little girl and was wondering if anyone might have experienced this same illness in one of their dogs.
I need help.

Have they said anything about swollen glands? She sounds very similar to my parents' dog.

Just a few hours after posting this comment my baby girl suffered a seizure and became unresponsive. I called the Vet and I made the decision to put her to sleep. I'm devastated.

I'm so sorry. We just went through a similar thing with my parents' dog and your girls symptoms sounded identical. Although he didn't suffer a seizure we too had to make the decision to let him go. It is heartbreaking. I understand exactly how you feel.
