Gastritis and renal failure
Our pekingese wa recently diagnosed with renal failure. He is 8yo. He responded well to fluids, creatinine 3.2 to 2.3, so we initially thought we caught it early. However, within a week his creatinine went back up to 4.1. After fluids back down to 2.1. He does not drink or urinate excessively. All other lab values (potassium, sodium, calcium, phosphorus) are normal. The only way we know his kidneys are not working is by vomiting. He has vomited since he was a puppy, but this is more frequent and different in character. On the days he doesn't vomit, his energy is great. The vet says he does not look dehydrated and does not act like a chronic renal failure dog. Does anyone know of any illness/ connection between renal failure and chronic vomiting/gastritis? We have been told his kidney failure should not be advanced enough to cause vomiting. His stomach wall was thickened on ultrasound. I would really appreciate any thoughts.
Thanks
