Default Help?

Hello everyone, this is my first post, but not to happy of what im gonna post about though. I have a 5 year old dachsund, black labrador, and german sheppered mix. Two big dogs and the small Dachsund. I heard my Dachsund cry the other night and I looked outside and she was sleeping I thought she was having some type of dream(nothing out of the ordinary)The next day, I find her dragging her feet. It seems like she has broken something or something bit her and infected her? She does/used to get into fights with the bigger dogs and Im guessing one of them fell on top of her or? Anyone have any suggestions on how I can help her get walking again?

Thanks!!

Exclamation Sounds Like An Emergency!--See link below!

It sounds to me the most likely thing is that she has a spinal injury, whether caused by the bigger dogs or not! Dachshunds are prone to spinal damage. I will quote from my breeds book: Health Problems--Herniated disks in the back can cause severe pain and paralysis of the hind legs-unquote. Dragging the hind feet and not being able to walk is a sure sign of this! I would get her to a vet before more damage can be done and not fixable!!! And darn! It always happens on a weekend and esp. this holiday weekend! The longer you wait--the more risk of permanent damage! This can be a very serious thing!
I am going to see if I can find some more info for you so check back here in this very post for more additions! Will try to be as soon as I find something!

I just found this right off the bat!! It is very important to get this looked at as soon as possible!----->

Default Hey There

I had a cheseapeake bay retriever and he had a spinal injury from birth. He appeared fine for the first year, however one day something gave and the next thing I new he could barely walk and if he tried to run his back end dropped and was dragging. The vet I was going to kept telling me muscle tear and that it would heal in time. I knew something worse was happening as he had been injured at birth by his mom. Barley was to big so she bit into him to pull him our and did a number on him.

You must get your dog to a vet as he or she is suffering and probably in a great deal of discomfort that will not go away. I could not afford surgery for Barley and further more was leary on it as it could do more damage. I went the natural way and he went for acupunture and swimming in a heated dog pool. While it ended up in the long run being just as expensive as surgery it spread out the cost. I can tell you he went in and did his first two weeks of treatments not walking and with in two weeks and meds as well to help with pain was walking and running. I was told he would not make it and I had him for 9 years and just lost him this past august.

Look at all your options, and keep and open mind. Its never cheap when our animals get sick but this is a case where you probably will not be able to do it on your own im afraid.

Wish you the best and good luck
