What a worry for you. Has the vet seen any improvement in his temp or in the swelling in his glands?

As a nurse I can tell you that in humans antibiotics generally take 48-72 hr.s to start working and I would imagine it's roughly the same with dogs..if you haven't seen any improvement or worsening of symptoms I'd give the vet a call..

I hope your fur baby gets better soon!!

I phoned the vet and he didn't seem to be too worried even though it seems Baxter is struggling to breath sometimes. He is much better than he was his temperature was 103 when i took him in and it is now normal but i'm still worried i'm not doing enough.

There is something terribly wrong when a dog struggles to breath, whether frequent or not, so I'm taken aback that your vet doesn't seem concerned. Did your vet explain what is causing Baxter's respiratory distress? Did your vet determine the underlying cause for the lymph node inflammation? Was a biopsy done?
