Default Proin tablets?

Hi. I have a 13 year old female Rottweiler and i was having problems with her leaking urine.The veterinarian put her on two 50 mg Proin a day.She was on it for 30 days with no problems and it did seem to help with the leakage, so the vet gave me another 30 day supply.Only the second day on this bottle i came home to dirrhea everywhere.I remembered giving her ham with her pill the night before thinking maybe this was the cause,but 2 day's later she has dirrhea again and laying around acting very sick.I am afraid to give her anymore Proin after reading bad things about this medication.She was on it a month with no problems so i don't know what to think.

Exclamation Please!!! Never Give Proin Ever!

Please get her off that BIG KILLER of dogs!!!!! It sounds like the kidneys or/and liver have been compromised. I just hope it isn't too late!!! Please read this thread---the whole thing! Is your dog on PROIN? READ THIS!

And this link also---->
Proin[B]

This is an alternative if nothing else works: Doggy incontinance Be sure to check out the links given in post #4.

I am pressed for time right now but will add some more links later that may be helpful for alternative safe ideas so keep tuned--I will have them here later today or tomorrow. PLease keep us posted as we will be worrying about your dog-----And hoping for the best!! I just pray the damage isn't already too late. Read what happened to Jasmine (Cheryl Martin's posts) in that 1st link!! And here is another post that Cheryl did about Jasmine:First let me say how sorry I am for your loss. Each time I read that a death has occurred possibly from ProIn I relive my Jasmine's 57 days of pain and suffering after taking this drug for 5 days. If you do a search at this forum for ProIn, you will have your answer-it can kill with just one dose. I know of a greyhound that had a stroke and died after one dose. ProIn will find an underlying problem, manifest it, and cause death. I believe this. My last words to Jasmine was my promise of telling anyone who will listen about this dreaded drug,

When you can, please visit Jasmine at: Jasmine's Rainbow Residency at RainbowsBridge.com

My thoughts and prayers are with you today.

Hugs,
Cheryl and Angel Jasmine
Jasmine was loved
Jasmine took Proin
Jasmine is gone
Me (CorkyMax) talking here---> Sorry to make you even more alarmed but you need to watch very closely---I think I would have blood work done now to check the liver and kidneys--which would tell you how bad this might be! I hope Proin hasn't done it's lethal work. Even If the liver and kidney readings are okay---Please do not continue using the Proin. This killer should not even be allowed on the market but the greedy pharmaceutical companies have to make their money off of it somehow as it was banned for human use because of the dangers of it--strokes/heart attacks.

And here is another post from a person who gave proin: My dog just died and she was on proin for incontinence for a couple of years. I really think this caused her death. She had a stroke or heart attack and within a 1/2 hour , she was dead. Please be careful if your vet prescribed this to your dog. I wish I had read the post about it on this website. I never knew it was dangerous. My vet never even tested her blood pressure. I am posting this so maybe I can save someone elses pet from dying . Look for the previous posts because there are alternatives to this problem.

Some dogs have just dropped dead because of the proin!!Im so devistated and cantg stop crying! If she had gotten ahold of the Proin wouldnt she have been sik alot faster than that? She never threw up or acted lathargic at all- Dogs can react differently to this 'crap'. It could depend on how healthy they are--esp. concerning the condition of the liver/kidneys/immune system, etc. You may think the liver/kidneys are healthy but you wouldn't know for sure--which is why a vet is suppose to do bloodwork to determine this before giving proin! Also it could of been too high a dose for your dog. I'm sorry for your loss but (and I wasn't going to post you) but I feel I have to because your other dog is on this 'crap!' Have you read the thread in here on proin? If not, please do. It is the most read thread in here and is quite long but it may be something you should read for the sake of your other dog!! Here is the link to click on: Is your dog on PROIN? READ THIS!
Heartbroken:cry::cry:
Note that this CRAP was banned for human use--Too many women were having strokes because of it!!! Greedy Pharmaceutical companies are now selling it for our dogs so they can make their profit from this d**n drug!!!

Sorry, but even the mention of proin--(or rimadyl or prednisone) drive me mad---innocent dogs are being 'poisoned' and taken advantage of once again!

Can't you check where you dropped the pill? And if you had an autopsy done--It may tell you how your Maile died but dollars to donuts your vet will never tell you it was because of the proin.

Sorry, I just replied to your last post and now I see you have read my message. But just calling your vet is not going to 'do the job!" First off your vet is prob. not going to think Rimadyl is that dangerous and if you have no blood work done to check the liver and kidneys --you will not know whether damage has been done!

Red face OOps!

I meant to say Proin!!! I hate Rimadyl almost as much as I do Proin! I was in such a hurry to catch you before you logged out that I 'screwed up"--Sorry. That, plus I had just talked to someone on the phone and was talking about Rimadyl. My mind is on this lemon new computer I have and trying to figure what all is wrong so I can give details to HP when I box up this lemon and return it to them tomorrow. The person I mentioned Rimadyl to is a tech for computers that I had just got off the phone with.---Just so you think I am not completely 'bonkers!'
