Suppliments specifically scorbate Just thoughts on the subject. I fully believe that if you feed a dog or anything good healthy food and suppliments that nothing but good can come of it (usually)....Okay so I care for a lot of puppies and I feel that it is crucial to give them suppliments along with their food, like if I see that they have dandruff to add omega oils to their food. To humans extra vitamin C helps to boost our immune system and I had been giving the puppies a little scorbate on their food. I asked our vet and she said it was fine. I feel that the extra precaution is helpful because so many puppies being together raise the risk of kennel cough or whatever else and if they do catch something that they may be better able to fight it. I've since ran out of the scorbate and my employer said not to use it since the puppies have Nutri-Cal for a suppliment. I read the label and I don't think it contains any vitamin C. It is just mainly a high calorie suppliment. So my question is this: how important is vitamin C in a dog's diet? I realize C is not part of a canine's usual diet (I haven't seen any dogs eat oranges lately)---but can a dog really benefit from it? |
