My golden retriever (age 7) and the love of our lives - has developed an open sore which looks like a raised bone - our vet says it is a rison, and surgery is recommended. My husband and I are leaving to visit my sister this week - and the people at Pampered Paws will be watching and doctoring it - and will call our vet if it gets worse. Can anyone give me any information on this condition - he licks on it and sometimes bites into it - we are putting an antibiodic on it and the bitter apple around it and that keeps him from licking or chewing for a few hours - but has not improved it. How serious is this and is there anything we can do for our beloved dog. Thanks.
