| Extinct?
I wonder what happened to the Tweed Water spaniel? How often do breeds become extinct?

Does anybody know why so many of this breed have hip dysplasia? A guy in my building bought a beautiful golden retriever pup from what was supposed to be a reputable breeder. She's only seven months old and has already been diagnosed. It isn't all that bad now but, who knows what the future will hold. I told him that he should inform the breeder immediately because the mother should be spayed. Is that correct?

Is that correct? | i think it has a lot to do with improper breeding practices as golden's became more and more popular. but many large dogs can be prone to hip dysplasia especially if they grow too big too quick.

| Hi everyone
The golden was developed in Britain in the 1800's. The first Golden's were a mix of the now extinct Tweed Water spaniel and the Newfoundland and the Irish setter. Lord Tweedmouth takes all the credit for developing the now Golden Retriever.
