Default Dog History

Domestic dogs inherited a complex social hierarchy and behaviors from their wolf ancestors. Dogs are pack animals with a complex set of behaviors related to determining each dog's position in the social hierarchy, and they exhibit various postures and other means of nonverbal communication that reveal their states of mind. These sophisticated forms of social cognition and communication may account for their trainability, playfulness, and ability to fit into human households and social situations, and these attributes have earned dogs a unique relationship with humans despite being potentially dangerous apex predators.

Hello to all

Dog history is really the history of the partnership between dogs and humans. That partnership is based on human needs for help with herding and hunting, an early alarm system, and a source of food in addition to the companionship many of us today know and love. Dogs get companionship, protection and shelter, and a reliable food source out of the deal. But when this partnership first occurred is at the moment under some controversy.
Dog history has been studied recently using mitochondrial DNA, which suggests that wolves and dogs split into different species around 100,000 years ago; but whether humans had anything to do with that, no one really knows.

Thanks for sharing

Dangerous apex predators? Can someone explain to me what that means?

Quote:
Apex predators (also known as alpha, super-, or top-level predators) is a predator that has virtually no predators of its own, residing at the top of its food chain. Apex predator species are often at the end of long food chains, where they have a crucial role in maintaining the health of ecosystems.
It's my understanding that dogs evolved from wild creatures because of human garbage deposits, the animals went there for easy access to the edible waste and eventually, with human interaction, became domesticated.

Sciensists have debated over the history and evolution of the domestic dog for hundreds of years. Aren't dogs the tamed version of wolves?

it is believed that all domestic dogs are directly linked to the Wolf according to most. Exactly when and how they became domesticated and when and where the breeds commenced appears to be the most common of the debates between those that have studied the creation of dogs.

We will never now exactly why or how wolves were tamed by man, maybe it's because wolf and man had several important things in common, both hunters and also hunted in packs.
