| | Guest | My dog thinks he's a cat
Some may not find this funny, but it cracks me up, everytime I see it. My dog seems to have picked up some habits, from his cats friends in the neighborhood. The thing that gets me the most, is watching him chase mice around the yard, pouncing on them with his front paws, the same way a cat does. And for those of you that have cats, as well as dogs in your home, you will know about when a cat leaves you a mouse, as if they have done something good. Well, my dog will usually do the same thing, offer up the mouse he has caught.
The only thing I haven't seem him do to the mice, is eat them. We just find them dead in the yard, or up on the deck, with him laying next to them....

We have a cat that was raised around dogs. When it's checking something out, she sniffs like dogs do.
And when someone comes to the door, she goes to the door and greets them, which reminds me more of dogs than cats.

Both of those sound funny... It's been years since I've had a cat, first my parents were allergic, then I moved to college where we weren't allowed to have them, then I got married & had a baby and she's allergic to cats too. We 'cat-sat' for a friend once and she had the worst time breathing because of the congestion.

I guess it all comes down to what they are used to doing, and what other animals they spend their time around.....

I often call my Lhasa "my little CatDog" because she has some very cat-like characteristics. Apparently this is common with Lhasas but I didn't know that when I got her.
She will arch her back like a cat, she lays on her tummy with her back legs stretched out behind her, and she will often sneak up on her toys and then pounce on them. It's quite entertaining.
Due to family allergies, I was never able to have a cat growing up and just stayed a dog person as an adult. I guess this is one way to get a cat!

Craztels Malamute you have an amazing story and amazing dog as well...
I think environment matters too...
Maybe your dog is exposed with lot of cats since it was a puppy and later adopt the cats behavior...
But that's not common...
Knowing that your dog eats rat???
Oh, very unique...
