Over the past several months We have been taking our dog, Mr. Buddylee, to a rehab facility and an assisted living complex. The joy dogs give elderly folks is heartwarming. Last week I had a thought: if there was such a thing as dog nursing homes and a "human" was brought in to visit the aging canines, would the greying dogs react just as enthusiastically to the human?

Well, here lately the doggie nursing home seems to the shelter. People keep bringing their senior dogs into shelters because they aren't that much fun anymore. It's horrible, but it's the truth.

Discarding an animal when they're not fun anymore, what a very sad thought. Occasionally we hear that hound dogs are discarded in the woods at the end of hunting season because they're not useful anymore.
