My dogs name was Duke. He died last year. It was a terrible hit and run. I just saw my Duke on the road with full of blood. It was the saddest day for me. May he rest in peace forever. I prefer an engraved memorial for Duke.

I read this and was reminded I lost Joey my Maltese boy almost the same way 2 years ago. Only difference is, he didn't bleed or suffer. Just got totally knocked out by a car. It was a very difficult time for us, and today he sleeps under our bedroom window where we laid him to rest. He lived a very short life, wasn't even a year old. He chased the cat across the street on a dark rainy night & my husband saw the accident.
The good part that came from it was the girl Maltese I got for my husband to console him. He cried for 2 days straight and even went to a grief counselor, so I spent my whole paycheck to get him a little girl puppy...and she is definately Daddy's little girl.
Joey was my first dog, and I miss him so much. I know your pain.
