Default My girl

I lost my Akita, Icon, in september, shortly before her 12th birthday. She spent her first four years with my aunt who breeds Akitas. She had two excellent litters but with her second suffered complications and nearly bled out. My aunt decided then to retire her to a pet home. My mother had fallen in love with Ike the first time she saw her as a 4 month old puppy, so there was no question of where she would go. The very first thing she did upon entering our house was enforce her dominance over our poodle (whom I happened to be holding). The second thing was follow me all over the house. She was my baby from that first day. When something scared her (like the vacuum) she turned to me, climbing into my lap or *sneaking* into my bed (quite a feat for a 95-110lb dog). She was the sweetest dog I ever met. She was endlessly tolerant and patient with my toddler nephew and loving with our poodle. She even liked our cats, though I can't say the feeling was ever mutual. I know she's in a better place, feeling no pain, but I miss her so much. I can't believe that I will never feel another of her kisses or snuggles or hear her woo.

Good night baby. Know that I loved you almost as much as you loved me.

I am so sorry for the loss of Icon. I lost my Yorkie in September also. He was called Joey and was over 16 years old. I had breed him so he had been with me from the day he was born. You never get over losing them but at least you know you gave her all the love and care you could.----Aggy
