14 year Old Boxer
Hello all,
Out of curiosity, I would like to get some feedback on the oldest boxer you are aware of. I LOVE DOGS!From what I have understood, the life span is generally between 5-10 years. I LOVE DOGS!I am sure this is incorrect, so feel free to correct me.
We recently lost our "baby". I LOVE DOGS!He was 14 years old. I LOVE DOGS!We have had other types of dogs in the past, but NOTHING even compares to him. I LOVE DOGS!We can not remember a single time in 14 years he EVER gave us any problem. I LOVE DOGS!He would go on family vacations with us and basically anytime we would go somewhere in a vehicle, he would be ready to go. I LOVE DOGS!The last 6 months of his life, he was still ready to go. I LOVE DOGS!We had to construct a ramp for him to walk inside the car since he could no longer jump. I LOVE DOGS!His last 6 months was hard on everyone. I LOVE DOGS! Prior to him getting sick and at the age of 13 years old, he would still do something he did at the beach as a young'n. I LOVE DOGS!When we would go on vacation, the only thing he wanted to do was get on an empty beach and run and do circles in the air. I LOVE DOGS!He did this up until he was 13 years old.
He died last year in our arms of cancer. I LOVE DOGS!We never really considered putting him to sleep. I LOVE DOGS!We felt he wanted to stay with us as long as he could. I LOVE DOGS!We could have let him go I think and we would have if we felt he was suffering, but we really felt deep down, he wanted to stay with us. I LOVE DOGS!Two weeks before he passed, we were laying with him in the Gazebo in the woods and were 100% sure he was taking his last breath. I LOVE DOGS!Suddenly he got his second wind somehow and walked out and I guess decided to stay with us a little longer. I LOVE DOGS!The day he died we were again in the gazebo holding him and listening to music. I LOVE DOGS!His breathing was bad and he struggled pretty much the whole day. I LOVE DOGS!We told him it was ok, he could leave us. I LOVE DOGS!This was the first time we ever told him something like that. I LOVE DOGS!Immediately after we said that, he slowly lifted his head, opened his eyes and looked at us for about 10 seconds. I LOVE DOGS!He layed his head back down and closed his eyes and stopped breathing. I LOVE DOGS!20 seconds after we told him it was ok, he passed away.
This was the best dog we ever had and I can say we will never have one as good again. I LOVE DOGS!We have yet replaced him, but I am sure one day we will with another boxer, but it is going to be hard to not compare.
Anyway, love to hear some ages of other boxers.

WOW after reading that story my eyes got full of water because i know just how you feel I had my girl Mugzy for 14 years and she had cancer as well, but was the best dog ever she went every were with me for the fourteen years. It was my first dog after leaving home and what a good dog she was I had her creamated and she sits right here in my computer room with me everyday. when Mugzy left me it was the biggest hole in my hart for a very long time but it was her time and I just try to remember all the good time we had together camping hanging out watching tv and what a good live she had. I have sense got another female boxer her name is Daisymay and she is now 3 years old and a big love bug as well and dose so many things that mugzy used to do it just makes you smile and think Mugzy is still her with us in a differnet way. I'm very sorry for your lose and it get easier as time goes one but need to get another boxer soon it really helps and trust me I said I would never love another dog like I loved Mugzy but beleive me you do there all so dam cute you can't help it.I wish you luck and i'm here if you need anything about boxers. take care

I am very sorry to hear that! I just lost my Boxer at 6 years old! I came home from work and he was his normal self. Wanting to play and then I fed him. I went inside for about 30 min then went out to get him to come inside and he was on the ground "gone" I couldnt believe it! He had no know health issues. Had blood checked once a year from the vet. The vet said it was probably a heart condition that is rather common in this breed! He was truely my best friend since I got him at 7 weeks old. He went everywhere with me. (Inlcuding work) I truely feel like I lost a member of my family! I will miss him greatly! He was the best dog ever! So much personality and love for his family. I was really looking forward to my new daughter beeing able to play with him!

oldest boxer
my mom has a dog by the name of pete. i went to go home and to my surprise he was still alive. full blood boxer. they have tried to put him down twice but every time he pops up and has energy as if he knew what was happening. he limps around now and still has all his teeth. losing hair and his face that was brown now is fully white. i am not sure what diet she haw him on but he is 16 human years old. his life span was surprise to be between 5-10 years and he is still kicking. she took him to the vet and they are just as confused as her. i have pics and my post is a year late but what sparked this was the yahoo blurp. the worlds oldest dog dies today as 21. this got me curious to see who has the oldest boxer. it seems we do as of now but what do i do about telling other people. not sure it is big news but this is certainly odd to hear that this dog is still alive.

My boxer was 14 in september and he still has his bouncy moments, so fingers crossed he'll be around for quite a bit longer. I cant believe he is still around though, he was very ill as a pup, he had cancer when he was 7, he has fits about once a year and has a slight heart condition. Poor baby, he still seems happy though bless him!

JoeBoxer, kyfern,
I am sorry for the loss of both of your beloved boxers.
Jasmine was there to greet both at The Rainbow Bridge and show them around.
My thoughts are with you.

My Boxer and best friend
Cancer finally took my Buddy on June 6 2011, my best and most loyal friend. He would have been 15 on Aug 16th 2011. These last few days have been hard as I am used to having him there in the morning when I wake up and I also have two other Boxers, Jazz (she is 12) and Diesel (he is 7) who are also looking for him. My heart is in peices and I can't believe he is gone, I love him so much and miss him terribly.
They won't let me post an image as I ma new here, but here is a picture of him
