In Loving Memory of Elle Mae "Baby Monster"
Elle Mae
"Baby Monster"
Elle was born on April 22nd of 2004. She is half long-haired Chihuahua and half Toy Pomeranian . Here is her story..........................................
The day after Elle had her 4th Birthday she became sick. We were driving home from dropping a friend off and all of a sudden Elle had her first seizure. We immediately ran her up to the local Vets home which is only a few house down from us. There she was diagnosed with epilepsy and was put on Volleum twice a day. Still, for months her seizures still occurred and new symptoms were appearing. The first being her partial blindness. She started to get better (or so we thought) because she was able to get around pretty well just by using her sense of smell and she was handling herself real well.
But then again the seizures started coming on more frequently. So we switched her to a lower dosage of Volleum and then a twice daily dosage of Phenobarbital (another drug used to control her seizures). This combination seemed to calm her down quickly and she still seemed sick but still able to handle herself pretty well. Blood tests were ran and we thought this was all being caused by a liver problem but later tests showed negatives for anything being wrong. This lead us to believe it was a brain tumor. We were told "This is a rare case but sometimes it does just occur." Its like something from a book...something you would never think could just "happen" to your family. It has definetly taking some time to get used to but she is a little fighter.
Christmas was a good one this year. All three of the dogs had their own stocking with a big treat inside. Elle was so excited she ripped hers right off the wall. Later that night however, began the battle. She was having what almost seemed like mini strokes all night long and began to soil herself. After a long night and next few days we noticed she had lost feeling in her left side, making her unable to stand, eat, drink or potty without help. Monday she lost feeling in the right side. She collapses if she is sat down, cannot control her bowls, cannot eat or drink , spazing frequently and doesn't really seem to understand whats going on around her.
Sadly on December 30 of 2008 Elle was laid to rest from her 9 month battle with a brain tumor. She got to enjoy Bob Marley, the Beach, Sunrise, Sunset and half a beer before we said goodbye. She meant the world to us and we hope you will keep her in your prayers. She's the Baby Monster...We love you baby girl and we will keep you with us forever and always!
