Four footed angel
Hi Everyone -
Our pug mix, Cricket ended life with dignity last Saturday. She was 11, and had Cushings. It was causing internal organ degeneration, and we felt that we needed to let her go, as she was suffering. It was a hard choice, but once I looked at a photo I had taken of her about 5 months ago, (attached)and compared it to how she was last week, I know we made the right choice. That said, it is still hard. The daily reminders, empty place and memories bring tears. I know this will get better with time, and plan to volunteer for our local pug rescue.
I want to urge all who have recently lost their animal to volunteer - it will help ease the pain, and bring comfort and joy to the animals you interact with.
Love and thanks to all -
Debbie

I'm sorry. No matter how long we have with our dogs it is never enough is it. That is a beautiful photo for you to treasure - she looks full of dignity and life there. It is never an easy decision but it is one we have to make for the sake of the dog and not for us. All the best.

Yes, it is the right thing to do. My daughter (married) just had to put her beagle to sleep last week as he was suffering too. It was a hard choice, but once I looked at a photo I had taken of her about 5 months ago, (attached)and compared it to how she was last week, I know we made the right choice. Now your dog is no longer in pain and will be greeting you some day at that bridge and it will be a happy reunion and for now Cricket is prob. romping around with many dog friends and having a great time free of pain and prob. acting like a young pup again. That said, it is still hard. The daily reminders, empty place and memories bring tears. I know this will get better with time, and plan to volunteer for our local pug rescue. Cricket is looking down from heaven, keeping an eye on you and is sad that you are grieving but understands that you loved her very much and so there is a time for grief. But, I'll bet she is also very happy that you are taking care of these other dogs in need. A great tribute to Cricket!

Note: Thank you for letting us know! It is not what we hoped to hear but we needed to know instead of wondering what happened. Will say a prayer for Cricket and I hope your grieving will be shortened by interacting with these needy dogs you are volunteering for. Thank you for that too.

puglover,
I am saddened to hear of the loss of Cricket. I mourn with you.
My Jasmine was there to open the Gate at the Rainbow Bridge. Soon you will know that Cricket is now your Guardian Angel watching over you and your family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
