Unhappy Vet threw my dogs ashes away!!!!

Hi there,
My beloved Gordon Setter Stroller passed away recently at the good age of 12. He was an old boy and had had a good life, running in the woods and playing with his ball.
As we do with all of our animals because we move a lot, we had him cremated at the local vet, a few weeks went by and I started asking questions, the vet sais it could take up to 3 weeks so I left it for a while. It was only when I took my cat in or her booster tha the receptionist rudly came in and told me that I had said that I did not wish for the ashes to be returned to me!!!!! I was beside myself and had to leave the clinic!! Once I had calmed down I went in to find out what had happened only to find this incompetant woman trying to blame it all on me! I took the manager to one side and explained the story.
Unfortunately it was too late to get stro back and even now, writing this, it still makes me cry!!!
Just a word of warning to carefully check all documents and make your wishes EXTREEMLY clear.
I will never have my Stro bear back now and I miss him so much every day.
Thanks for listening!
Holly

I am sorry this happened to you, it would be heart-breaking. I hope they didn't charge you as if you had received them. At least they didn't just hand you some random ashes and tell you it was your pet.

Thankyou, yes it is very heart breaking, no thankfuly they didnt charge me for the "collection" and as a gesture wormed and frontlined all of the remaining 5 animals for free. Guilty concience i think.
Thanks again

Oh! What a horrible experience for you! I am so very sorry. I would change vets if possible (you may do already if you move quite a lot), but thats just awful. At least your memories and your heart will always be with Stro.

I did not know the vet would do that to your animals kinda interesting guess it's true you learn something new ever day . That sucks they did that how ever they did try to make it right . I would not have them do that to my animals how ever i grew up in the south working on a farm and we just dig a whole and put them in the ground .
