Question Thoughts the name for my son's first dog, a Choc. Lab. "Trajun"

That's the name of one of the most celebrated of Rome's Emperors who had a 40+ year reign beginning after 40 or 50 AD, I think. The dog in question is a magnificent, 95 lb unaltered 1 year-old male with one of the most gentle, loving personalities I've ever heard of or seen. Previous owner didn't understand Labs, or was an utter idiot! She had two males of the same parents, 6 mo. apart who was raising them to live their days outside in a fenced-in penn, and then spend evenings inside...in another pen! The one we're taking, the Beta dog, never gets the attention it craves---what little the owner dishes out goes to the elder dog---and it seems so needy to just "belong!" So what do uou think? "Trajun?" Better than it's current name: "Scrappy" And, you guessed it, the Alpha's name is "Scooby!" Jeeze! I'm thinkin' "Trajun" will work just fine.

I think that is a nice name, very different!

That is terrible!! Labs need their space, running room and play time. I have a lab and she is VERY ACTIVE and has 3.5 acres to play on!! I'm glad you are taking him and giving him the home he deserves!

Smile Thank you, Luvdanes!

I just hope too much damage hasn't been done! A dog should not have to go through his life timid and unsure as this "Beta" dag has become. Especially a lab who typically centers his whole life around pleasing his master or family. Equally, he craves the feeling of "belonging," of having a valuable place in his "pack." Well. We're gonna give these thing to him and make his life a better thing. Never had a "Velcro Dog" before! Can't imagine a better attitude in a "first dog" for a boy than that though! Old Yeller (but in brown!), here we go!
