Default Breeder picks the name?

We anticipated the arrival of our big boy for several months even before he was born. I was alittle put out when the breeder sent me the registered name that he would have. I said "no way" i wanted to name my own dog but i think she thought we would show the dog. She then e mailed me a list of available names that were not taken yet but i still think she cut it down to ones she liked.

And the registered name is only the name on the papers so they also give you the call name that goes with it. My god the registered names are long then they put the breeders name in front of that. We didn't even pick the call name that goes with the registered name and when the breeder e mails me she still refers to him as "Tye".

We picked a registered name of " A Black Tie Affair" but call him Tuxedo everyday or Tux. Tye was the recommended daily name. He is all black and i think the name fits him as he looks sharp in his black Tuxedo.

Breeders often pick the registered name, but it is your choice what you call the dog. You can call him something totally unrelated to his registered name. Owners pick call name, this can always be changed.

I had a girl I registered as Lunar Eclipse and called her Luna and her new owner named her Zoey for call name. To most people its really unimportant what the registered name is.
