Hey! I got a Sheltie a couple months ago. His name is Linus. He's named after the Peanut's character with the blanket. Everyone who meets my pooch coos over the name. Pick something semi-unusual (I know a hundred Gingers and Buddys), that means something to you (Linus was my favorite of the Peanuts) and is easy to say (Pufferwuffersnooleoogems may be adorable but not when you're training and you have to say it 500 times). I recommend a two syllable name and something that doesn't sound like a command (ie: sit, come, stay, etc.). When I was naming my pup I made a list of 20 names. I'd look the dog in the eyes and read the list. The names I liked saying and the ones that got a positive reaction stayed on the list. (My dog hated Bogart and Darby... but liked Rocky and Linus... go figure...) When you are training your pup ALWAYS use the same name... no cute nicknames you made up... it'll just confuse the poor dog. Hope that helps. Marilyn is cute... but if I may suggest: try a character of hers instead ... it'll be a good conversation starter. As a Pats fan: I think Brady is BRILLIANT!
