I have been using Ivermectin for the last 8 years on 4 different dogs with no problems at all. All 4 consistantly tested negative every year, and in San Diego CA, heartworm is a serious problem. The brand name I use is different, but the active ingredient is the same. I was using Heartgard Plus, but the vet I got that from retired; my current vet prescribes Interceptor so that is what I use now.-----------------I say go for whatever is the easiest to use and to get on a consistant basis. Unless there is a huge price difference with plain Ivermectin being signifigantly cheaper, go with the all around easiest. Oooh, also, ask your vet if NuHeart has any other beneficial/active ingredients to it besides Ivermectin. It may protect against some other parasites as well.
