I try to give my dogs unusual names. I grew up with shelties..and aussies later on.
we had a Brandi, Shasta, Cricket, and mandy.
in aussies we had bandit (a girl bandit), mariah, whiskey.
in collies I've had Risa, Chance and Peyton. I currently have Scarlett, madison, Grace and Brooke.
grace was named when i got her and I didn't change it, but it's a really popular name now though. I named brooke after my favorite TV show, which coincidentally also has a peyton. lol.

Name you dog after a Hollywood celeb. That would be cool.

I'd suggest that you wait until you actually get the dog, and pick a name that suits his or her personality. Dogs are pretty good at naming themselves.
For example, I once adopted a standard Dachshund who was already named Rusty. But every time I opened my mouth to call "Rusty", it came out Ralph. So Ralph he became. Several years later I was looking at a book of baby names (I was pregnant at the time), and decided to look up the name Ralph. It means noble wolf, or house wolf. That suited him to a T.
I now have a miniature Dachshund who flies through the house like his tail is on fire, smashing into anything that gets in his way. What else could I call him but WhizBang?

Names
Since all of my Shelties were adopted from shelters/rescues, they already came with a name.
However, you might try looking at baby name web sites, or looking for sites about famous dogs and their nicknames (names used for purebreds outside of their official registered title with kennel clubs).
One dog I had as a teenager, a black Lab/Irish Setter mix, was named after a famous athlete, Gordie Howe. And since you know the nationality of the dog, you could look at Gaelic names, first and last. Maybe you have a favorite singer or group, the possibilities are endless. Make a list and try them out, pretending your calling for your dog using different names.
And, don't forget that once you've given your new dog a name, if, like most of us dog lovers, you'll give him/her numerous nicknames, which he/she will learn to associate with when you use them.
Hope this is helpful.
