Hi and welcome to the forum. Glad you got a great pup. Without a picture it's hard to think a name for him but why not call him Pepper!!! Or since there is so much Gold involved, call him Asset!!!!

^ Goldie is a cool name. You may also name your dog after other elements - Silver, Iron Man, Boron.

Here's some stuff I pulled from a name dictionary.

Alamar ... "Gilded, covered with gold." ...
Crisanto ... "Gold flower." ...
Goldsmith ... "Gold worker." ...
Ofir ... "Gold." ...
Ophir ... "Gold."
Orville ... "Gold town." ...
Pazel ... "God's gold." ...
Zahavi ... "Gold."

Aurelio ... "Golden." ...
Eldorado ... "The golden man." ...
Golding ... "Little golden one." ...
Goldwin ... "Golden friend." ...
Orel ... "Golden." ...
Oro ... "Golden."
Xanthus ... "Golden-haired."

Amarillo ... "Yellow." ...
Blain ... "Yellow." ...
Flavian ... "Yellow hair." ...
Guildford ... "Ford with yellow flowers." ...
Taji ... "Silver and yellow color."

Now you got nice name suggestions around, what name did you come up! Give him also a nick name according the messy things he do around.

One more: how about "Butterscotch?" (Butter for short) Or... you could give him a "people" name-- how about either Matthew (Mattie) or Michael (Mikey).

epny has some great suggestions, but I dig the names - Crisanto and Xanthus - the most.

Those are all some great ideas for names! I have a Golden/Lab as well. His name is Midas. I can't take credit for the name though. His first owner was a Professor of English Literature. He is my choir director and when he got the puppy( he took him from someone that found him in a drainage ditch) he had brought him to choir practice and when I showed up for choir and was able to dig doggie treats out of my pocket when the puppy was starting to get into mischief and keep him by me the director decided I was the owner for him.
