Default help naming a malamute mix

At the end of the month we are getting our Alaskan Malamute mix. At this time we are trying to think of some names for her, so we are ready to choose her name once we know her personality. My fiancee likes Bella and Kira. I was also considering Alice, but I want more than 3 options(I went through over 50 names before choosing Ollie for my ferret). I also like my pets names to have some sort of meaning, or that goes with the breed so to speak. I have her 3 week photo(i think) to use for inspiration for anyone who wants to help. Any ideas at all would be a great help.

She looks kind of like a Natasha to me. My own dog's name (she's a spaniel) is Annie, but that would go well on your baby girl too. I personally don't really like the name Alice-- too midwest, doesn't really match the breed, but that's just me. Nobuko would look good on her, although it is not an Alaskan name, but Japanese for "faith." What about Natalia, or even Natalie? Kaylee? Kamee? Or even Annabelle. Let us know what you decide, anyway! :-D

Bella is a very cute name! And what a cute puppy! I know what you mean, I like names that means something as well. The two names I love the most that means something is Kalaya which means "sweet lady" and Sitara which means "morning star".

Here are two websites that I like for any type of animal's name, but they're more directed towards dogs. 1) Dog Names 2) Thousands of NAMES for your dog, horse, cat, pet or child from Chinaroad Lowchens of Australia -

I named my Malamute Kimuk. It's Inuit, and means dog.

Kimuk was a great dog, intelligent, easy to train, and she had a great sense of humor. She passed away at 13 years of age, after a short illness. I still miss her a lot.

Hmmm i do like Misha. We already have a Cody in the dog portion of the family who is actually our Ridgeback mixes brother. I did like the name Sophie, but my fiancee's parents have a dog who is about 2 weeks older than our boy that they named Sophie. The name Sadie is avoided because it was my sister's cats name before him manly parts dropped at which point he became Bob(we think he was smarter when he thought he was a girl)

Alright so it has been narrowed down again.
Esme
Luna- moon
Luyu- wild dove or one who is a head shaker
Nadie- wise
Nita- strong
Nova- chases butterflies
Tala- wolf
Yepa- snow woman

Any help narrowing it down a bit more? We are getting her this week, and I need all the help I can get.

Shucks... I was fond of the name Willow... but out of your short list, I vote for either Tala or Nova. (We had a 1972 Chevy Nova-- we nicknamed it "Old Reliable-- it was one of the best cars we've had.) Did you know Nova also means "New?" It is an astronomy term also-- I think for a newborn star?

Thumbs up Naming Malamute

I have been going crazy over a name for the retriever/malamute I am getting next week. I have been asking people's opinions, and they have just been in fits of laughter that I am taking it all so seriously. Naming any thing, human or dog, is a serious decision, I was quite hurt at their laughing so. Anyway, the names I ended up with over the days are: Angel, Jan (she was born in January), Gem (my other dog is named after a gem stone, but couldn't find the right one for this puppy), Beaut, Star and Xena.
My favorite name is Xena, but then we would start to saw, "have you seen her?" I have changed it to Zana, but my son is going to call her Star. So I want Say Na, but would that be spelt Zana or Zanna, or Zaina, o what?

But good luck on getting your dog, soon, and on choosing the right name.
