That's so true. My first standard Dachshund came to me as a rescue, many years ago, and his name was Rusty. I had no intention of changing it, but every time I opened my mouth to call "Rusty" it came out Ralph. So he became Ralph, which suited him quite well, seeing as Ralph means "nobel wolf," or "nobel house wolf."
My most recent rescue, a long haired miniature Dachshund, was named Izzi. But he ran through the house, crashing into everything, so often he ended up being WhizBang. Whiz for short. People often hear me call him Whiz and ask me if I had a lot of trouble housebreaking him, LOL.
