My husband and i want to get a doberman puppy, probably not until next summer, but we're already thinking up names

As the doberman is a breed developed in Germany, we thought it would be cool to give the doberman a German name. One of our favorites is Cohen, but my husband feels that it would not be politically correct to name a doberman Cohen. Cohen is a Jewish name. Jews stereotypically have prominent noses. Dobermans also have a rather prominent nose. I don't think anyone but my husband would even put those two things together and i think it's harmless. What do you think? I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone out there who might be Jewish.

I'm not Jewish, but I personally don't find that offensive at all, and I doubt many (if any) people would either put those things together or be offended. Just my opinion though.

I completely agree with the quote above. I for one wouldn't have made that link, even if a Jewish person meets the dog and hears the name I don't think they would make any link between nose size and feel offended.

Besides, you aren't calling him that to be offensive so no one should take offence at it. If anyone does (which I doubt) just explain that you called the dog that because you like the name!

I ain't Jewish, but I think it's borderline.

Maybe find some other German name that gets rid of this problem? Maybe a first name, because anyone religion can have the name "Heinrich" or whatever.
