I chose that name for a Boxer I had a long time ago. It kind of matched the other dog I had ---a mixed breed that was called Zeke. Lol, seemed that not only those 2 names were made for each other but it was also a 'play' on them as well--Luke--(look) and Zeke---(seek)

Boomer and Misty
They are both beagles:
Misty is my step-mom's dog, so I don't know why that's her name
Boomer because is very loud when a person enters our house. He barks and howls like crazy.

Pet names...
Pitbull- Roxy, because I have always liked the name for a large female dog.
Murphy-Pug, thought he deserved a sophistacated name lol
Sheldon-Puruvian Inca Orchid, he needs to wear clothes the majority of the time so I pick out nerdy shirts & sweaters which leads me to my favorite character on The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon.

My big girl is Sophie - I have no idea why I can up with it. It just seemed to fit her.
My catahoula curr puppy is Pirogue - I decided that since the catahoula is the state dog of Louisiana he needed a Cajun name.
My toy rat terrier puppy is named Boots - because I wanted something easy for my kids to remember and the like Dora and her friends name is Boots, also he has four white paws.

My little one is Maggie, but my fiance and I call her everything from "Maggins" to "Maggie-bags" to "Mag-pie" lol His Pekinese is named Marty, but we always call him "Marty-boo" or just "Boo". Sometimes we call him "Marty McFly", just because we're nerds lol

My boxer/lab's name is Tosca, b/c she's a raven beauty and hence named after the opera.
And my foster dog, a brown and white Am Staff is named Juno. For no reason other than when we were coming up with a name it just seemed to fit.

I wanted to call him Slowpoke, but he's always on the go!
I met a great dane owner the other day who named his dog 'Great Jane'. I like that one!

My Rottweiler is named Holly. She was named by my son, He wanted her to have the same name as his best mate at school.
My Border Collie is named Shadow. He was again named by my son after a character from Sonic the Hedgehog. Shadow However lives up to his name as he follows me everywhere.
My Rottweiler cross is named Chaos - We just liked the name but we are beginning to regret the choice of name as he, like Shadow, is living up to his name.

My pups have LONG names
I have two little chi pups, one pure and one mix (minipin).
My little boy is named Pipsqueak the Flying Monkey but also goes by Mr. P, Doctor P, Mister Pippers, Captain Piddlepants and Baby baby walnut brain.
My little girl is Little Miss Luci Fur Whiskerbiscuits but we call her Luci, Luci Lu, Lulabelle and Princes Poopybutt.
They also get called Piglet every once in a while but usually after a big meal.
Both get called Tick when they get chubby and it's time to slim them down.
We are also fostering a tiny 3 month old Chiweenie named Princess Sophie who also goes by Sophiesophiesophie and Sopaphilla (a pastry).
We named her Princess Sophia because when we got her, she had a horrible burn on the top of her head where someone threw acid at her. It's healed now but she's got a bald spot. We tell everyone who asks that it's because she wore her Princess crown so long it wore a little bald spot down.
Sometimes when we go out we dab on a little brow powder to help disguise it, not because she's ashamed (not at ALL, little saucy pants) but because sometimes you want people to notice the puppy, not her booboo.
Amazingly enough, they know each name and who's being called when. Who says dogs aren't smart!?!?!?

I have 3 mixed breeds:
Murphy Himself - 70 lb. GSD/husky/? mix. He was about 2 yrs. when he decided he wanted to live at our house. His owners didn't want him (or his brother) anymore so it worked out all around. He's a fairly dignified dog but has a solid sense of fun and the name Murphy seemed to suit him. Also answers to Murph, Murph-a-lee and Big Dog.
Michaleen - Murphy's brother, 60 lbs. - looks like a setter/collie mix, he tagged along with Murphy. Wanted another Irish name to go with Murphy and the John Wayne movie, The Quiet Man, has always been a favorite. Barry Fitzgerald's character in the movie was Michaleen O'Flynn, so that's where Mick's name came from.
Riley - 65 lb. boxer/whippet/? mix - added to the household a couple of years ago. He was part of a dumped litter of puppies. We wanted to keep the Irish surnames going, so Riley is what he was named. Also answers to Stripey Dawg (he's a brindle), Riley Roo and Little Boy.
