Red face What do you think of these names for my future dogs?

I have a dog called Wispa, a purebred female mini Border collie. In the next couple of years we hope to add another doggie to our household, a male Belgian Tervuren. We had three names in mind:

Spoon
Alkali
Smelt

Personally I love the name Spoon, because it sounds like 'Boone' and I love that name. I also love the name Alkali but I don't know if it would fit a Tervuren. I guess we would have to see what personality the puppy had when we got him.

I also hope to get a Borzoi when I move out, but not for another... 5 years maybe? He would be a male and I would really love to call him Skaro. It's a name I've allways wanted to call a Borzoi, I used to have an imaginary pet one when I was younger.

I love ther name Dexter, too. and Sylar. What do you think?

Skaro sounds good. I always give my dogs names, that contains two syllables. It's easier to call them

Since Akita's are a Japanese breed I've always given all my Akita's Japanese names which is one thing you can try and I named my Husky Nina as it means little girl in Spanish.

Being part Native American it is more within the culture to give a name based on personality or with meaning. This is usually done after observing in this case a puppy for a few weeks to a month. Be reminded that Geronimo translates to one who yawns. As a child he excessively yawned hence his given name. Even Keifer Sutherland was not named originally until his father Donald Sutherland and mother had time to observe characteristics and finally came up with the name Keifer. I suggest you wait til you get the dog, I think at that time these names may not even be consequential and you will find you have name the dog something totally different.

Definitely naming after dogs naughty or wonderful deeds is great idea, which is more personal and interesting to know. My friend named her JRT "Digsby" because digging is the very first activity her did just when he arrived home.
