Hey there. Im getting ready to AKC regester my fantastic sheler Mutt Koda Bear. He is a 2 year old border collie lab mix, and i need a good show name. I cant seem to think of a good one tho. Any Segestions would be awesome.

He is Black with a white chest and toes.

I don't understand how you can have him AKC registered if he's a mixed breed..AKC registration is only done for purebred dogs!

She's talking about the AKC Canine Companions program which allows mixed breed dogs to compete in AKC performance events including obedience, rally and agility as "All-American" dogs. The program is about 1 1/2 years old and several All Americans have already achieved high level titles in these sports.

On to the names - I might pick something that reflects his colors, like the other suggestion of Oreo, Ebony & Ivory, Night and Day, are some other ideas.

There's nothing wrong with having his call name and his registered name the same, Koda Bear is certainly no more or less fancy than many registered names I've seen. Just if there are already some Koda Bear All Americans , he may end up being Koda Bear with a numerical suffix (Koda Bear III) so maybe throw his color, your surname, town name or favorite place in at the beginning or end to differentiate.

is now regestered through AKC mutt program. Wish us luck at our future rally and agility shows!

Figured I'd get him put in so I can start showing him asap. We already do 4-H shows, and have won all 3 rally-o's and got 2nd in agility. Sadly im getting old so this is my last year in the 4-H program.
