Default Laugh & Learn Learning Puppy

The Laugh and Learn Puppy is a cuddly play pal for your baby that combines two modes of play -- learning mode and music games -- with 10 delightful songs. In Learning Mode, six hot spots on the puppy teach your child A-Z, body parts and colors through fun phrases and songs. Then, switch to Game Mode for fun phrases and songs, including the Alphabet Song, a color song, a counting song and a song that teaches body parts. In Game Mode, kids can also enjoy six additional songs that encourage interaction: Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone, Pat-a-Cake, This Little Piggy, This Old Man and Bingo. A light-up collar twinkles to the music and puppy's response. Provides hours of interactive enjoyment. Requires 3 "AA" batteries (included).

Customer Review: Great Entertainment for the Car
My daughter got this as a gift a year ago for her birthday. SHE LOVES IT! Yes, it's ultra sensitive and a little annoying over time, but you can control the volume on the back of it. And it's never bothered me while I'm driving. My daughter has countless times fallen asleep with it in her arms while we were on the road. And if I would let her have it in the house more often, I think it would she would still get a lot of playtime with it. I don't forsee her getting tired of it anytime soon. One of the best gifts we have ever gotten for her.
Customer Review: Flaws aside, great music and design inside
Well, when I first heard of this toy and toyed with the Flash demoed on the Fisher-Price website, I knew I had to have it (I have a liking for plush dogs, particularly those who talk and sing, or at very least, bark), but Amazon won't ship to Malaysia, and the local Mattel branch was really clueless when I called them up to enquire about it. So, I took my chances at eBay instead. Three weeks, US$43 and lots of anxiety attacks later, the puppy finally arrived. And I must say, cons aside, I am really impressed. I probably should first mention these: The unit I was sent is a somewhat improved model. The instruction manual mentioned that the sliding switch hidden around the back of the puppy only has the states on or off- and that the switch was on the lower-left of the battery box. Mine somehow has three states- Off, soft and loud, and the switch was on the upper right. F-P wanting to surprise the buyers with improvements? Your guesses are as good as mine. Also, yes, there is a demo tab that must be removed. I'm surprised some reviews on the page were ranting about not being told about it. It was on the first page of the manual. Ok, let's start with the cons. Yes, the buttons are ultra-sensitive. Although not to the point where a gentle blow on the paw would result in a music/phrase change (yes, I tried that), but even rubbing his paws lightly or having the puppy's paw coming in contact with a comforter (or anything else for that matter) would result in the puppy dropping what he was saying/singing and sing/say something else. That's not really good, since a hug when the puppy prompts me to hug him would almost always throw him into a strange fit of phrase cycling and partial singing should his paws should come into contact with my body. Not sure of the cabling in the ear, but I'm not taking any chances with it (would you pull on the ears of a real puppy? I think not). Now, on to the Pros. I admit that find him really cute (who could resist a cute floppy-eared puppy wearing a colourful T-Shirt!), but it was the excellent music that had me sold on the puppy. I was careful about the unit I ordered (my research on eBay turned out two different song lists, with all but the last two songs being identical on both models), as I really didn't like one of the songs on the second list. Of course, I was greatly rewarded. The puppy's songs are reasonably full-bodied and clear. He also has a voice I really like (think somewhere near Caillou's voice- that's the closest I could explain the pitch of the voice) and he sometimes makes cute barking noises too. And he does have a reasonably large vocabulary. Granted, the voices in some of the songs do not sound like his talking voice much, but I could forgive that- after all, I like the songs, and if one imagines him singing while stretching his voice, it does sound rather plausible. Again, the three-level slider switch is again a plus, albeit only to those who bought the updated model. The blinking bone-shaped tag is nice. I noticed that when the puppy's singing, the collar tag would only blink when there is vocals in the song and not through the whole song, which I feel is a nice touch to details. In a nutshell, it's a nice toy, flaws aside. It could probably use less sensitive sensors on it's paws (and if they haven't already fixed it, more durable cabling in the ear switch I guess. Again, I'm not taking any chances with mine, so no rough handling there) but other than that, It's perfect.
