“I rehabilitate dogs. I train people.” —Cesar Millan
There are at least 68 million dogs in America, and their owners lavish billions of dollars on them every year. So why do so many pampered pets have problems? In this definitive and accessible guide, Cesar Millan—star of National Geographic Channel’s hit show
Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan—reveals what dogs truly need to live a happy and fulfilled life.
From his appearances on
The Oprah Winfrey Show to his roster of celebrity clients to his reality television series, Cesar Millan is America’s most sought-after dog-behavior expert. But Cesar is not a trainer in the traditional sense—his expertise lies in his unique ability to comprehend dog psychology. Tracing his own amazing journey from a clay-walled farm in Mexico to the celebrity palaces of Los Angeles, Cesar recounts how he learned what makes dogs tick. In
Cesar’s Way, he shares this wisdom, laying the groundwork for you to have stronger, more satisfying relationships with your canine companions.
Cesar’s formula for a contented and balanced dog seems impossibly simple: exercise, discipline, and affection, in that order. Taking readers through the basics of dog psychology and behavior, Cesar shares the inside details of some of his most fascinating cases, using them to illustrate how common behavior issues develop and, more important, how they can be corrected.
Whether you’re having issues with your dog or just want to make a good bond even stronger, this book will give you a deeper appreciation of how your dog sees the world, and it will help make your relationship with your beloved pet a richer and more rewarding one.

Customer Review: SIMPLY THE BEST!
He starts out telling a bit of himself, his upbringing and WHY and HOW he knows so much about how dogs think and what they need becomes apparent...dont be put off by that part, its necessary and puts a faith in him and his knowledge of dogs of all kinds in all conditions, If you're new to his methods. Then he goes about explaining each aspect of what he has learned and why its necessary if you want your dog to be happy as the dog he is, not just to be happy yourself with a cute or smart or beautiful dog..that can do tricks etc. This Training is for YOU the owner, then you will make for a good pack leader and happy dog, by following his method, it takes practice, daily commitment, not some easy thing just by reading a book or watching his shows alone, he says it...It takes a daily commitment! But what a reward! in the end. HE IS THE BEST-HE KNOWS DOGS!!!! better than anyone I've ever seen or heard of. I'd say buy this book and the DVD as a set to watch and enhance what you learn in book. BTW I do have 2 dogs (Sheltie and a Lab) , so I know it works.
Customer Review: THE REAL DR. DOLITTLE
Like most people, I became aware of Cesar Milan through his Television show the Dog Whisperer and we've been fans ever since. It's not only a very helpful and informative show but also very entertaining and Cesar is such a personable man that you can't help but like the guy. If you are a fan of the TV show you'll certainly be familiar with some of the techniques that Cesar uses to "train people". We recently purchased a Chinese hairless crested who thinks she definitely owns the house. She's very loving and likes to cuddle but she's also very possessive. While we've just started to work with her, we do a see a bit of a difference already in her behavior. She is still possessive but not in such a demonstrative manner anymore. Cesar's tips about relating to your dog on their level may seem a bit outlandish but you can't argue with success and results. The only problem is that he and the book makes it sound a whole lot easier than it really is. It takes time to put his techniques into place. People may also be put off by the fact that Milan places much of a dog's misbehavior squarely on the owner and not the dog but again, you can't argue with results. One thing to note is that even if you watch the TV show religiously, get the book is you really want to work with a dog. The TV show gives a very condensed and edited idea of what happens but you really need to read the book to gain a full understanding of what Cesar is doing.
