Default Global Pet Finder GPS Tracking Device for Pets

What if there was a way to keep track of your pet's whereabouts at all times, no matter where they roam? Thanks to a clever combination of GPS and cellular wireless technologies found in the Global Pet Finder, it's now a reality. If you need peace of mind when it comes to keeping track of your beloved pet, the answer has arrived.

The Globalpetfinder is designed to fit securely and comfortably.

Define a virtual "fence" for your pet via the globalpetfinder.com Web site.

Your pet's location is automatically transmitted to your wireless device.

The device is simple to operate. View larger. The Global Pet Finder consists of a GPS tracking device and a cellular transmitter. When the five-ounce, water resistant device is attached to the protective snap-guard, it slips easily onto your pet's collar, halter or harness. The unit runs on three included, rechargeable AAA batteries (a charger is also included).
The other key component of the system is the globalpetfinder.com Web site. Here, Global Pet Finder members can build a virtual fence of any size by logging in and defining the fence parameters. The command center will prompt you to enter a name, address and size for your fence. Your fence is then automatically downloaded to the memory of your Global Pet Finder and your pet can then freely roam inside this virtual boundary. Up to five fence locations can be stored at once.
If your pet wanders outside the boundary you have defined, you'll be alerted immediately and sent a continuous update on the location of your pet. Location information is sent to the device of your choice -- a cell phone, a PDA, or a computer -- via SMS or email. Meanwhile, if the Global Pet Finder device is placed in "walk mode" you can walk and travel with your pet outside of the virtual fence. Should you and your pet become separated, though, tracking may be initialized remotely simply by dialing F-O-U-N-D from your cell phone. Likewise, you can check your pet's location at any time by dialing this code. The Global Pet Finder will then transmit your pet's position.
In addition to tracking your pet, the Global Pet Finder will alert you via cell phone when its batteries begin to run low. Plus, the unit monitors the environmental temperature for your pet. You'll will be alerted if temperature conditions become dangerously hot or cold. Global Pet Finder is non-invasive, it requires no installation or surgical implantation, and it does not use electric shock of any kind. Simply put, it's safe and causes no harm to your pet.
The Global Pet Finder requires a one-time activation fee of $34.99 and a monthly service plan. The service plan includes three locates per month (a locate is defined as an out-of-fence violation lasting more than five minutes. It begins when you receive an out-of-fence alert and ends when you pet returns to the "in-fence" mode). The service requires that you have cell phone coverage in your area. See the coverage map to determine if you have coverage. Consult the globalpetfinder.com Web site for service plan details and charges.

What's in the Box
Globalpetfinder device, three AAA NiMH batteries, battery charger, snap-guard, quick-start guide, and user's manual.
Customer Review: Great for hiking with my wayward dog
I have a pointer mix who loves, loves, loves to run after deer. He always finds his way back during one of our camping/hiking adventures within an hour or so of romping through the woods. At home he comes when called, but in the woods it is a whole new ballgame. The tracking device just gives me peace of mind. I don't recommend that you use this as some kind of "watch dog" for your dog. If your dog has problems escaping or doesn't come back when called, you should probably look to other solutions, especially if you live in an urban area like I do.
Customer Review: Totally worthless
This product keeps changing home addresses; none of which are the address I typed in the initial field. It does not stay charged so that it is actually able to function as advertised if you are gone from home any length of time and you put your dog in a yard. Additionally, gravity takes it down to the lower neck area in common use so that when the dog is doing normal dog things, the device sinks downward so that the antenna is pointing toward the ground. The pictures are misleading. We tried all of the advise the company gave us. It's just not a device that works when and where you need it to work. It was a lot to invest to have this many problems.

I would like to know about this, too. My Dane got lost 1 time before and I never want to be that worried and have no idea where he is again. You never know when you could need something like this.

Thanks for any replies.

Default Dog e Tag

Bruce has a Dog - e - Tag. It's easy to use. I think it's a plus because it has room for a lot of contact information. It probably uses a lot less battery than a gps one. Just a thought.

GPS for the dog would be great as long as it worked with out any bugs. Might be good for your kids too!

This is another subject but, GPS on pets/people/e.t.c. make me think of the Mark of The Beast. Things like this are meant for good, but always fall into the evil hands. I like the Dog - e - Tag posted above. When I buy those plastic dog tags, they wear easy...and when they get dirty, & you clean them...the words are still kind of hard to see.

GPS tracking device for pets is really cool. Is that expensive? I wanna buy one for my dog. He gets lost sometimes.

This could be a good solution for the frequent runaway dog, but how much does it cost?

This sounds like a really cool idea, I'd like to know about its effectiveness as well in the field.

My concern with it is it only helps you find your dog AFTER it's lost! Another words it's not really protecting the animal from getting hit by a car, getting into hazardous materials, destroying your neighbors flower beds etc.

And I know it's possible for a dog to escape the electronic fence without proper training, but I'd rather put the time, effort and investment into an dog fence than wait until the "horse is out of the barn" so to speak.

I think this is a rather good idea, actually. I've lost a pet that was chipped before, and found out the hard way that that darn chip doesn't do any good unless someone knows it's there, and the vet is ASKED to check for one. If they aren't asked, they don't check...and if someone likes your dog there will be no questions asked by the vet.

I saw a version of the GPS trackers at the recent global pet expo...great idea! The company also made them for children...actually if I remember correctly that is where they started and then they created a version for dogs. They had several different options, but I can't remember what the pricing was. I think I still have their promotional pamplet...I'd dig through my office and see if I can find it...
