Default Slinky Dog Toy Story and Beyond

What is it about this dog? It's not cuddly or soft, doesn't do much except slink around, but hey, we love him. The Slinky Dog was first introduced in 1955; it boomed in the '60s and then found fame with another generation in the Disney movie Toy Story . Durable plastic with slinky in middle and faux leather floppy ears. Commemorative box with retro 1950's style packaging. For ages 5 and Up Not recommended for children under 3 years
Customer Review: Slinky is not for kids under three
Slinky dog may be cute, but he doesn't hold up too well. The nose will fall off, making it a possible choking hazard for very small children. Also with kids, they tend to tangle and bend and stretch the slinky in the middle, the actual coil does not hold up to ALOT of handling, the metal gets bent easily and it can and will tangle to the point of being beyond repairable... I think the person with the idea, had a good idea, but didn't follow through on the fact that very active, small children were going to actually play with this toy.
Customer Review: Fun and Frustrating
My son loved this toy at first. But withing 10 minutes of playing with it, the internal string (meant to keep the slinky from being stretched out) was wrapped around the slinky, making it a wadded mess. It took me about 5 minutes to unwrap it. Ten minutes later my son was in tears as it was wrapped up again. Essentially, normally play, even just pulling it, causes it to fall over and get wound up in a knotted mess. Not good. I cut the cord to prevent this the next day (15 repairs in 5 hours is too many for me). Lots of fun, my son had a blast all day. He'd put a book on the tail, get on the bed and pull it till the tail came whipping up over the bed (no, he didn't lose an eye. =)) Negative of this is it stretches out the metal slinky, and in less than a week the toy is useless. However, he enjoyed that week a lot more than he would have enjoyed a year with it had the cord remained attached.
