Customer Review: Tamara Wallace - ... what a voice
Tamara Wallace has got a gorgeous voice. I put The Funky Green Dogs "Super California" CD in and just pressed play, a kick [butt] intro immediately gets your attention and as soon as her voice kicks in on DJ Asle's Radio Version of "You Got Me (Burnin' Up)", she commanded my attention, and she got it. It's the kind of voice that no matter if you like the song or not, she stands out. It's evidenced on the above mentioned track and in "Remember" and "Free". I am very "ready for a new sensation" (from "Free"). She is one, and she's damn good. And she is the main reason I listened to the Funky Green Dogs CD, as she makes them really worthwhile to listen to. Sometimes FGD drags their beats on a bit too much. Asle's "Burning Up" is an exception...it's a perfect length and pace and FGD could shorten their tunes to this length to keep things a little more bouncy, cause their beats are great as evidenced on some real energetic standouts songs of their showmanship; "Hesitation", the fun "Funny Feeling" and their version of "Burning Up" are examples. The title track "Super California" is another nice tune that comically captures the stereotypical L.A. scene, as Wallace sings (and purrs) about all of those trendy, superficial things such as "cell phones" and "silicon". Me not being the biggest FGD fan, and if you were to ask me to pick one album from them to listen to, I'd recommend this one as overall, their beats really are good and Tamara's just wonderful!
