If there is even the slightest chance that the puppy is rabid, you should have the shots. However, if the puppy does indeed have rabies, it should not be in contact with any member of your family or anybody else for that matter.. Technically, the animal does not have to actually bite someone to spread the virus. It lives in saliva so, even if the saliva came into contact with a tiny cut on someones hand, they could become infected.
The puppy needs to see a qualified veterinarian and be held under strict quarantine if there is even the slightest suspicion that it could be rabid. Rabies is an extremely dangerous disease. Don't take chances.

It is a series of shots; used to be five but I think it's only three now. It blocks the rabies virus. Frankly, right now some strange brain reaction is the least of your worries. I've had the shots myself and know several people who have had them. We all came into contact with a rabid raccoon. Nobody suffered any negative effects.
Rabies is fatal so make sure you get all of the shots. Honestly, it isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.
Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

The point is based on your other posts, there is no indication you have rabies. If your "Vet" is the one telling you to have this done, he is not qualified as he did not even ask to see the dog let alone insist it be quarantined. Your doctor would be the one to advise this. Where is the dog? What happened to it? Is it being quarantined? Has it been put down to having rabies?
Sorry, there is far more here that makes no sense than what you are telling us.
Even if your are in the Philippines, the dog would have been taken and either put down or at least quarantined. As based on your other post, neither has been done.

I also think he is not a true vet. he doesnt really checked my pup's body for other reasons for his weakness. when i told him my pup bit me, he then advise me to take shots immediately based on my pup's condition which is very weak.
this is my problem, the doctors here are not as good and as open minded as the doctors in the US.
anyway, i researched the net and i found out that there are some cases where victims(humans) develop rabies symptoms first than the rabid dogs that bit them. some of those guilty rabid dogs even live several months after biting humans.
my pup is inside the house, in contact with us but not with other people. he is not aggressive nor really paralyzed. he is just weak. probably he does not have rabies but i just want to be sure. so even if my vet is not a qualified vet by not checking my pup for other reasons for his weakness, i see his point though that i should take shots immediately.
my life and my loved ones' are at stake.
I will do it tomorrow.

i had 4 shots of antirabies vaccine earlier in the morning around 9am.
1 for anti-titanus, 3 for anti-rabies. its so painful, both of my arms is aching hours after the shots!
and good news, my pup is ok now. he back to his usual ways. so i think he doesnt have rabies.
but i will continue the remaining shots scheduled for me. 2 more sessions of shots i think. because when i was an 8yr old kid i was bitten by a dog. that dog was never monitored. so there's a chance that that was a rabid dog and theres a chance that rabies inside me are still working towards my brain. i mean, i might have rabies but still dont develop symptoms, it was 16 years ago anyway!!! i hope i dont have rabies in me.
i hope this thread helps other people with similar concerns...
