Default Unanswered: My dog eating his hair...

Recently our dog, Tucker, started shedding quite a bit. Understandable since the weather has been warming up slightly. We got him a brush and started brushing him for 5 minutes every day outside on the porch. We have just been putting his hair clumps we pull out of the brush into a bag and leaving it in the recycling crate. This morning, we caught him eating his hair clumps out of the bag. My fiance (Tuckers Dad) is worried about it. However, I think it may have been a crime of curiosity and opportunity. Should we be concerned? Or should we just put the bag of hair clumps somewhere else (which we've already done) and forget about it?

He never eats his hair off of his body or tries to eat my hair, which is very long. It's just his little hair clumps that come out of his brush he's interested in.

Any input is appreciated!

Personally, I wouldn't be worried about it - dogs love to eat gross stuff! I would, however, throw the hair clumps into a garbage he couldn't get to from now on. I'm not sure just how bad hair in large quantities is, and I'm not sure if that is one of the things that could block their intestines.

I don't think you need to be concerned about it. One time I caught our dog eating his feces, I was so angry I shouted at him to stop it because it was really gross!...he just looked at me with the expression like saying " what's your problem?"

I think it is more like curiosity. Just let him know that he is not to eat his hair
