Default Unanswered: advice needed/ doggy unusuall acts?

hi everyone, im new to this site, and yes i do love dogs!!
my story is this...
i have 3 dogs, all strays that i have picked up from the street over the last 5 years, while ive been living here in corfu.
the problem is this, one of them, paddy has started to lick the rear end of max,
i mean he wimpers all the time because he wants to lick, max bless him obviously doesnt like it and he is getting really ratty with paddy, its as though max is on heat, impossible because hes a dog, and incidentally we had him, castrated a few yrs ago. he really is getting to the end of his tether, paddy just wont leave him alone.
i have had a good look at the area and can see nothing only a very clean passage.
has anybody had this problem before and if so what is it and more importantly what can i do??

thank you in advance
mike, and max of course.

Well, it seems to me that Paddy is really confused. Either he is trying to get Max to go to the toilet or he is trying to be boss over Max. In the wild a submissive dog will allow the pack leder to lick the other on the behind, this is to show respect. To disuade Paddy from doing this perhaps you could distract him with either a clicker or toy. My brood bitch will lick the behinds of her pups even though the pups are now adults. She is telling them that she is still mother and theys should submit to her. In turn the pups will lick their mother's face again showing respect to their mother. I would certainly try to stop this behaviour before it esculates into a fight between the two of them. Another thing you could try is a spray that we use on bitches in heat, or a mild doggy perfume. That would disuade Paddy. Good luck and I hope this helps.
