my pomeranian is 56 days pregnant i just took her temp and its 99.7 F should i be worried and watch for puppies or is it to early? thanks

First how can you be sure you are at 56 days? No offense but many come here with issues like this and they actually are not really sure so this needs to be known as fact. Average gestation is 63 days. Rarely will a bitch deliver as early as 56 unless there are some issues. If you feel there is a problem you should take her to the vet to rule out problems. If not, watch for the common effects, labor (heavy panting), nesting etc. You can also test the teet for milk production. Good luck.

I'd call your vet and talk with him or her. If your dog's temperature falls below 100 degrees this generally means your dog should give birth within 24 hours. 99.7 is a very close call though so it probably is a false alarm unless the dogs is showing other symtoms. I'd be ready and call vet. Like Yogi said usual delivery is 63 days but premature birth is obviously a possibility like with humans. Is your dog showing any other symtoms?
